Coprinopsis lagopus -Inky caps

See Mushroom Expert for more info

Coprinopsis lagopus is in the order Basidiomycota and division of Agaricomycetes (Jelly Fungi). The common name is very descriptive of this class of fungi; the fruiting bodies tend to have the consistency and appearance of jelly. During dry weather, these fruiting bodies will dry up and shrivel allowing them to persist for weeks until the next rainfall. There are jelly fungi that look like coral fungi and some sac fungi that look similar to jelly fungi so appearance is not always an accurate method for identifying fungi; some require microscopic scrutiny.
