Driftless Prairies: Native Habitat Restoration

Nature inspires awe!

Phalacridae (Shining Flower and Mold Beetles)

Phalacrids have a great defensive mechanism. They tuck their legs under them and roll off leaves, take flight, or fall to the ground. These beetles are helpful at stopping the spread of some fungal-born diseases in plants. When the adult and the larvae feed on the fungi, the spores become unviable.
