Drosophilidae (Vinegar Flies)

This is a family of about 6,000 species that range from plant eaters to predators. The most widely recognized one is what we think of as the common fruit fly. Their common name is bestowed upon them because they are a vector of bacteria that turns beer and wine into vinegar.
