Limoniidae (Limonid Crane Flies)

There are about 135 species of Limoniidae in North America. They can often be found sipping nectar from flowers. Their larvae is aquatic and terrestrial. In the water, the larvae are found where they can graze on algae. In terrestrial habitats, larvae are found on rotten logs and mosses.
