Status: Common
Wisconsin’s most abundant snake. They eat frogs, toads, salamanders, fish, earthworms, and insects. We find these hanging around our rock wall terracing, especially near the garden. Last summer, I discovered a couple snake skins in that area as well; I suspected they were from this snake.
